Chocolate Cinnamon Raisin Energy Bites

Chocolate Cinnamon Raisin Energy Bites + recipe | Glitter & Grace Blog

There are so many processed snack foods and energy bars in your typical grocery store. From potato chips to trail mix to granola bars, they often take up an entire aisle! Many people turn to these convenience foods because they’re a quick snack option on the go, and it’s easier to add a couple protein bars to the cart during a weekly trip to the store than face the prospect of preparing your own snacks – especially for an entire week! Certainly some of the products available are healthier than others, but I find that they often contain unhealthy preservatives or fillers. Or, the ingredient list is about twenty items longer than it need be. Even the most simple fruit and nut bars never taste quite as fresh as something you’ve made in your own kitchen.

Wouldn’t you rather spend snack time enjoying a delicious, homemade, wholesome treat? Especially one that takes lit-er-ally three minutes to prepare? These energy bites are the quickest little recipe to whip up using only nine ingredients. They last forever in the freezer and are just as portable as your favorite snack bar, so consider preparing a double batch to last you a couple weeks. In fact, you might actually save time over navigating to the snack aisle in the grocery store and perusing all the options for a good ten minutes. Most importantly, these chocolate cinnamon raisin energy bites are filling and seriously delicious. The hearty, chewy texture comes from rolled oats and ground flaxseed (mega fiber there, too!). They’re held together by one of my all-time favorite sources of healthy fat: almond butter! And lots of cinnamon, plus just enough sweet raisins and chocolate chips, make each bite insanely yummy. All in all, I love these energy bites because they’re super portable and delicious, easy to prepare, and made from only whole, healthy ingredients.
