My First Apartment!

Hey y’all, yesterday I signed the lease on my very first apartment! I couldn’t be more excited and relieved. Setting this up was definitely a long and hard process because the housing market in San Francisco is crazy. Finding a place in a nice neighborhood, that I was excited to live in, with people I connected with, at a price I could afford? Yeah, a nearly impossible endeavor. But I’m happy to say that this place pretty much fits the bill. I was lucky to connect with another alum from my college, and together we formed a great house-hunting team. We spent the last week visiting apartments, showing this place to lots of other potential roommates, and negotiating with the landlord. It took commitment and intense focus (at the expense of sleep) but we made it work!

The apartment is a beautiful four bedroom flat in Pacific Heights, my ideal neighborhood. It has natural light, beautiful hardwood floors, updated appliances, a patio – oh, I could go on and on! I smile every time I think of my future bedroom. I simply can’t wait to move in and start making the place my own! It will be so fun to live with this group of women, and I’m looking forward to weekend adventures in the city with the apartment as my home base.

Of course, there are still some details to be worked out. We need to find a fourth roommate, and moving my stuff in will definitely take some coordination. Luckily I have this weekend to relax. After the stress and lost sleep I’m coming down with a cold, so I’m planning to hole up for the next few days – writing, reading, and watching TV. Then hopefully I’ll be able to move in some time next week! Great things are coming, I can feel it.
