My Winter 2015 Capsule Wardrobe

Today y’all get to see my winter capsule wardrobe! This is definitely my favorite capsule so far, and I’m so excited to wear these items for the next three months. If you haven’t heard of the capsule wardrobe phenomenon, the idea is pretty straightforward: to choose a limited set of clothing pieces to wear for a certain season.

I first adopted this approach last summer, and this is my third capsule. I love living with fewer pieces in my closet because it makes getting dressed every day much simpler. A more curated set of items also means that I love each and every sweater, pair of shoes, and dress. Finally, with only twenty or thirty pieces in my closet each season, I actually have the chance to wear things out.

For winter, I included twenty four items – my smallest capsule so far! I found that even the thirty two pieces in my fall capsule felt a little overwhelming, meaning that I kept turning to the same couple of sweaters. I’m a little anxious because this season’s twenty four includes coats and boots too, but I think that this will be a fun challenge. For winter I focused my choices on cozy and warm pieces in classic and rich tones. Ok, here are the twenty four items I’ve included in my winter wardrobe. Ten were purchased new (marked ***), and the remaining twelve were carried over from my fall capsule (marked *) or pulled out of storage (marked **).
