Summer 2015 Capsule Wardrobe: Working Girl in San Francisco

I’m so excited to share my summer capsule wardrobe with you today! The capsule wardrobe is something I’ve been experimenting with for the past few months, after having been inspired by Unfancy and Project 333. The concept is straightforward: limit your wardrobe to a specific set of items (somewhere between 30 and 50 pieces is the norm) for a 3-month season. The capsule doesn’t include undergarments, pajamas, workout clothes, or accessories.

This idea is appealing to me for 3 specific reasons. First, it makes getting dressed in the morning so much easier. When you have fewer choices, and you absolutely love every item in your closet, choosing an outfit for the day should take 60 seconds, tops. Second, it encourages you to wear every item you own on a regular basis, instead of buying something and then pushing it to the back of your closet because the color is a little off or it doesn’t fit quite right. Finally, it makes shopping a much more infrequent activity. At the beginning of each season you have the chance to update your capsule with new items, but other than that, shopping is off limits. This frees up time and money for other activities and experiences that matter more.

So, with all that being said, now I’d like to share the 29 pieces I’ll be wearing for the rest of the summer! I’ve incorporated a mix of laid-back pieces and work appropriate items (although the dress code at my office is casual). And, you may have heard that summer in San Francisco can be pretty chilly, hence the sweaters and boots. I’ve also listed where I purchased each piece. Ok, here we go:
